For my oil painting I decided to paint lemons, mainly because I wanted to be bale to us the color yellow. I planned out eventually using yellow, the reddish orange of the background, and a teal. This is one of my favorite color combinations. Here is my oil painting in the brunaille stage. I am actually pleased with how this turned out. I think the values could have a little more contrast between them, but I always have a difficult time committing to dark darks and light lights. Next, I began to add the grisaille. I found this step a little more challenging just because I thought it was more difficult to blend and did not know exactly what colors to use. Clearly, this step is not complete, but I am happy with how the box is coming along.

I am sorry that we didn't get further with this process!!! I think you would like it... and I hope that you'll pick it back up in the future. It is an excellent review of using value to create form - and remembering that color's reliance on value is critical. Love the lemons!
