Hey! I'm Ada Rigsby, a senior at Maggie Walker. Here's my art website!
Through my art, I work with the contrasting ideas of chaos and order, specifically within the context of the environment. I hope to continue to explore this idea through more complex methods. In the past, I have mainly worked with simplistic collage; however, now I am working with geometric shapes, spirographs, and circle cut outs. I explore the juxtaposition of chaos and order through mixed media pieces, typically featuring the repetition of circles and other geometric shapes. I choose to work with circles because they can be used to represent both chaos and order, depending on arrangement. Through my work, I play around with the relationship between more organic forms and geometric patterns. The interaction between chaos and order, as well as the creative process itself of choosing which aspects will be organic and geometric drive my decision making. Currently, I am using some of these same ideas and methods, such as the use of circles and collage, to experiment with telling a narrative through abstraction. Most recently, I made a book and filled its pages with abstract collages. Although abstract, each collage represented a part of my day, together telling the story of my day to day life.
